Welcome Note

Greetings to you all.

The newly established Worldwide network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation Nurses Group (WBMT NG) which will be participating at this important event where the WBMT brings an important platform where various experts on stem cell transplantation and cell therapy (SCT & CT) from the different parts of the world are working together offering their huge experience and expertise to develop and improve transplant activities in low-middle income countries (LMIC).

The establishment of a WBMT Nurses Group is a valuable and necessary initiative to address the specific concerns of nurses in the field of SCT & CT, especially in LMIC. Some key contributions this group could make are facilitating training and professional development programs, creating spaces for nurses to share experiences and knowledge, developing common strategies and approaches to address specific challenges in patient care and nursing practice related to SCT & CT, provide up-to-date information on advances in SCT and CT through online resources, webinars, and conferences, among others. On top of it, promote initiatives that will improve comprehensive patient care in all phases of the transplant process, from evaluation to long-term follow-up.

The WBMT NG will always strive to come up with programs that will cater to the needs of the country it will collaborate with considering the language barriers, level of knowledge in BMT and other concerns as well as endeavor to find the proper approach and methods to empower the nurses in the respective countries.

During the WBMT congress in Pakistan in 2022, a small group of nurses collaborated with the different organizations and was able to impart positive impact on the Pakistan nurses-colleagues. The event has become a catalyst on the realization that a nurse group is necessary to give due recognition on the relevance of the nursing aspect of HSCT & CT. With the formation of the WBMT NG, we hope to replicate the same success and with a prospect of a continued collaboration beyond the conference.

This is indeed an honor for the WBMT NG to be involved in this 9th WBMT congress to bring certain milestones through its efforts in building a durable foundation of BMT knowledge to the BMT Nurses of Mongolia.
